Innovation capacity is a major factor for the sustainable growth of nations and regions. The study focuses on Innovation Resources, Innovation Processes and Innovation Results. The following indicators are currently available:
• Hourly productivity growth • Size of labour pool broken down by qualifications • Public and private R & D expenditure • Number of Students of universities and technical universities • Bibliometric indicators • Availability of Venture Capital • Quality of Knowledge and technology transfer • Number of newly founded companies
In order to enhance the comprehension of the rather complex notion of regional and national innovation capacity, new indicators are constantly developed and added. Currently the focus is on national and regional penetration of the ICT infrastructure and its contribution to productivity growth.
The IBC location factor module „Innovation“ is developed in collaboration with the ISI/Fraunhofer Institut, Munich and D & B (Dun & Bradstreet International).
