Once a year, BAK Basel Economics awards advanced research in regional economics. The sum of the award is CHF 3000.-. The best research paper is selected by BAK’s Scientific Board:

• Prof. Paul Cheshire, London School of Economics
• Prof. Regina Riphahn, University of Basel
• Prof. Bart van Ark, Groningen University
• Prof. René L. Frey, University of Basel.
  

In 2005, the BAK Award went to Mag. Markus Eller, IHS Institut für Höhere Studien, Vienna.

All students or graduates who have been or are engaged in advanced research in Regional Economics are eligible for the award.
